Package imported same data multiple times

We ran an import from a csv file into D365, the execution took a very long time to run but then gave us the below error. However we then noticed that the data actually went into D365 and repeated for 6 times.

Can you please provide us an explanation of what might have happened, and what we can do to avoid a future repeat, especially since the import was on a live production environment.
