Immediate Requirement for Package Execution Failure Notification Mechanism

Simon:

Specifically related to the problems my client has encountered due to changes in the handling of replication packages is the glaring IMMEDIATE need for a notification mechanism to advise a person immediately upon the failure of a SkyVia integration package.

We cannot continue to have to rely exclusively on visual inspection of package execution history to determine when a package has failed and continues to fail.

Had such a mechanism existed, we would have been alerted and been able to immediately advise you of the failure, if necessary.

Continual failures of replication packages in a production environment are CRITICAL and cannot be stumbled upon in a happenstance manner as is the case with visual inspection.

We previously raised this issue and nothing has been done to deliver the requested functionality. This is not a nicety, but rather a fundamental requirement of an enterprise replication solution. If such functionality was in place, we may have been able to avoid the loss of several days worth of time-sensitive data history.

Please advise.

Respectfully,

 Hello Darryll,

We totally agree with you that email notification is needed for failed packages. Moreover, this is probably the most requested feature, and there are many users that wait for it. However, it's not possible to implement this feature on current Skyvia engine. We currently work on a new Skyvia engine which will have the email notification feature for failed packages.

Unfortunately, there is no timeframe when new Skyvia engine with email notification feature is released.

Best regards,

Simon

Simon et al:

With all due respect, I would like to understand why you can't implement email notification.

And, if you can't, you need to expose an API or another mechanism for integration package execution status via either a push or pull mechanism. It is simply and profoundly unacceptable to not provide a solution of any kind.

Hello Darryll,

The current Skyvia architecture does not allow implementation of email notification after package execution. Developers don't provide technical details. They said that email notification can be implemented only with the new Skyvia engine.

And, if you can't, you need to expose an API

We have requests about Skyvia API too. We will post here when Skyvia API is implemented.

Best regards,

Simon

Simon:

I'd like to offer the following. The product owners, whoever they are, need to familiarize themselves with the fundamental requirements of enterprise-class replication / integration components, as there are clear, glaring and frankly, stupefying gaps in the functionality necessary to achieve minimal enterprise readiness in the current product implementation.

I am of the belief that you have an incumbent fiduciary responsibility to your customers when you offer products such as SkyVia, and that as a result of the gaps, SkyVia does not allow you to meet that fiduciary responsibility at present.

Hello Darryll,

Thank you for the post. We listen to your opinion, and we are grateful that you help us make Skyvia better. However, there is no technical possibility to implement email notification on the current Skyvia engine. We are doing our best to release new Skyvia engine faster, but for now we can't provide any timeframe when it will be released.

Best regards,

Simon

Simon:

While I appreciate your reply relative to the notification request, the problems go well beyond notification.
